The Impact of Disease in Shrimp Aquaculture on Prices in the U.S. Market
Tess Petesch is a recent graduate of Duke's Master's program in environmental management where she studied environmental economics. She is interested in the interactions of fisheries and aquaculture. At Duke, she used skills gained in econometrics classes to examine the impact of disease in farmed shrimp on U.S. shrimp prices. During the summer of 2016, she worked for the New England Fishery Management Council on a review of the scallop catch share program. Before Duke, she attended Colby College where she studied economics, after which she worked in public sector consulting.

Culture, Capture, and Disease: Small-Scale Shrimp Farming in the Age of Industrial Aquaculture
Mirna received a B.A. in International Relations from the Islamic State University Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Indonesia Faculty of Social and Political Science in 2013. Since then she was worked for a variety of NGO and government programs in the area of rural development, including Flora and Fauna International, Copenhagen University, the Economic Bureau of Aceh and others. She has published work with the Acehnese government on climate adaptation and mitigation, and served as the primary field assistant and data collection coordinator in our Acehnese aquaculture work.
